Dr. James Distefano is a native of Alexandria, Louisiana. He served in the United States Air Force from 1993 to 2005 and was the Medical Director of Keesler AFB Emergency services from 1998 to 2000.
Dr. Distefano is a specialist in primary care/sports medicine, and he is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. He is trained in all areas of sports medicine procedures and current practices, orthopedic and medical. Dr. Distefano received his fellowship training at Oklahoma State University from 2004 to 2005. He then became the Team Physician for Oklahoma State from 2005, where he remained until his relocation to College Station in 2007. In College Station, he became a Team Physician for Texas A&M Athletics and local high schools and JUCO in the area.
Dr. Distefano is a member of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association’s Government Services Committee. He is also Vice-President of the Brazos-Robertson County Medical Society. He is the Physician/Member of the Concussion Oversight Team for BISD and CSISD. Dr. Distefano has been on the teaching faculty of Texas A&M University and Oklahoma State University.
Dr. Distefano is an active member of the St. Joseph and St. Thomas Aquinas communities and has been married to his beautiful wife, Jennifer, for 24 years. He has four wonderful children. Sadie is a flight nurse and Emergency Department nurse in College Station. Bailey is a graduate of the University of Dallas and lives and works in Irving as an Inventory Control Specialist. Anthony “TJ” is currently a Junior at Schreiner University in Kerrville and a member of the Basketball team. Joe is the last remaining child at home and attends Hopewell Classical Day School. Dr. Distefano has a love of God, family and sports.
